DESCRIPTION:The CERIS event of 5-7 June focused on Disaster-Resilient Socie
 ties for Europe will discuss existing and developing networking initiative
 s from the international to the local levels in support of Disaster Risk R
 eduction (DRR) policies\, synergies between DRR research and capacity-buil
 ding projects\, as well as enhanced access to knowledge in societal resili
 ence\, technologies for first and second responders\, prevention/preparedn
 ess for climate / weather extreme events and geohazards\, and resilience t
 o CBRN threats with focus on medical emergencies. More than 25 EU (researc
 h and capacity-building) projects will be represented\, with more than 40 
 speakers in various panels\, involving policy-makers\, scientists\, practi
 tioners\, SMEs and civil society organisations.\n\nFor further information
