Criminal analysts play a crucial role in supporting investigations and providing strategic insights for decisionmakers. As the needs of investigative work evolves, criminal analysts need to keep their skills sharp and relevant. Training and coaching are therefore essential in providing analysts with the skills and tools they need. What’s more, training and coaching has to evolve with the needs of analysts, providing instructions on the foundation of analysis while staying up to date on what and how to teach analysts.

To better understand what the essential components of modern analysis training and coaching are, as well as to identify the skills needed for the next generation of criminal analysts, EU CrimACon 2024 will focus on the role of training and coaching. Through presentations from experts, panel discussions and demonstrations, the conference will dive into the questions of the pedagogy of criminal analysis and the nature of skills needed by today’s analysts, before diving into the future opportunities for analysts’ training.

The conference will also recognise and congratulate the outstanding work of operational and strategic analysts in the EU, when Europol presents the annual Criminal Analyst of the Year Award during the conference.

We welcome members of the law enforcement community, as well as other professionals and students interested in the field of criminal analysis, to submit their expression of interest to attend using the link below by 31 July 2024 (extended). The event will take place in-person only and has a limited capacity, with each submission of interest being reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis. Please make sure to wait to receive a final confirmation approving registration from Europol before making any travel arrangements.
