Flash report on Counter-UAS capabilities in the EU

We have published Flash Report 23, Counter-UAS Capabilities in the EU: Technologies, Projects and Operational Challenges. The report examines the growing importance of counter-unmanned aircraft systems from a law enforcement and internal security perspective, looking at the evolving drone threat landscape, operational requirements for LEAs, key technology layers, deployment models and EU-funded initiatives supporting capability development.

The analysis highlights that effective Counter-UAS capability depends on more than individual technologies. It requires layered and interoperable systems, clear legal authorisations, trained personnel, standard operating procedures, command-and-control tools, and strong coordination between security, defence, research and operational stakeholders. The report provides an evidence base to support future EU security research, innovation and capability-building in this increasingly important area.
