Every 6 months, ENACT summarises the latest observations added to the Structured Knowledge Base (SKB) through a series of infographics – known as the FCT Maps. One map is produced for each of the ENACT observatory – Capabilities (CapO), Technologies (TechO), Market and Standards, and Ethical, Societal and Legal (ELSO).
The latest publications cover the period from September 2024 until the end of February 2025.
The maps highlight trends in the FCT domain
- For the technology, market and standards and ethical, legal and societal observatories, observations related to cybercrime were the most common policy area, while for the capabilities observatory, organised crime was the policy area recorded against the observations.
- Cybercrime also featured heavily in the news for both the capabilities and technology observatory
- AI is having a significant impact in the topics covered by all observatories
- In the Technology Obsevatory, there has been a significant rise since the 2024 version in the area of Digitial security products and services and a decrease in internet -based investigation.
- In the Capabilities Observatory, the most common policy area has remained as the trafficking of humans and goods, while data analytics and digital forensics have remained at the two of the most observed technology areas.
- In contrast to the Technology Observatory, the Ethical, Legal and Societal Observatory has seen a significant rise in observations related to internet–based investigation
- Across all observatories, the functions area of Data, information & intelligence gathering, management, and exploitation is the most prevalent within FCT.
The March 2025 to August 2025 versions will be published later this year and all FCT Maps can be reached on our results page.
