About Social Innovation Matters
Security Innovation Matters is the second annual symposium of the Horizon Europe-funded Engage2innovate (E2i) project. This one-day event brings together security researchers, practitioners, policymakers and innovators from across Europe to explore a critical question:
How can we achieve more impactful, real-world outcomes from EU security research and innovation?
Held in the heart of Brussels at the distinctive Le Bouche à Oreille, the symposium offers a rare opportunity to explore how human-centred design methods, tools and processes can transform the way we approach security R&I — strengthening innovation and supporting implementation on the ground.
We are proud to confirm our keynote speakers who will open and frame the day’s discussions:
- Nicolas Bessot, Head of Innovation and Security Research at the European Commission
- Nehro Azeri and Magnus Sjöberg, Europol Innovation Lab.
Together, they will share perspectives from the heart of European security research policy and practice — highlighting the urgent need for innovation that is not only advanced, but also human-centred, context-appropriate and implementation-ready.
The event will also feature the launch of the E2i Toolbox — a practical set of tools and resources designed to support more engaged, human-centred and impactful approaches in EU security R&I projects.
