ENACT has published the latest iteration of the FCT Periodic Maps, covering the period from March to August 2026. Developed through the four ENACT observatories, the maps provide an updated overview of developments across capabilities, technologies, markets and standards, and ethical, legal and societal considerations in the Fight against Crime and Terrorism (FCT) domain.
Across the four observatories, Cybercrime and Organised Crime remain prominent, alongside continued attention to Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Digital Forensics and data-driven investigation. The maps also highlight the importance of Data, Information and Intelligence Gathering, Management and Exploitation, Investigation and Forensics, monitoring and surveillance, and information-system security. At the same time, the latest observations point to growing emphasis on trustworthy AI, regulatory compliance, data governance, cyber resilience, operational deployment and the safeguards needed for the responsible use of emerging technologies.
